HK9 offers continued maintenance training.  This on-going program will ensure your K-9 unit maintains operational proficiency and stays within state and agency specific guidelines and requirements.  Designed to supplement our Police Service Dog Basic Handlers course, this training program will help reduce liability, improve operational capabilities, and maintain unit standards. 

HK9 offers a 16-hour agitator/decoy course.  This course is designed to prepare and train law enforcement personnel who serve as decoys for      their agency’s K-9 units.  Completion of this course will make law enforcement decoys an integral member of their K-9 unit, reduce injury to personnel and dogs, and make each unit's training more effective and efficient.

The Basic Patrol Handler Course is a 240 hour training course designed to prepare the dog and handler to operate as a professional K9 team during law enforcement operations.  These operations include area and building searches for criminal suspects, article and evidence searches and other K9 deployments. Develop core K9 team skills which include the following:

On & off leash obedience, tactical obedience, gunfire acclamation, obstacle  negotiation, directed negotiations, evidence search, guard and bark (per agency request), call off, recalls, building search, area search, wind scenting, high-risk traffic stops, suspect vehicle extractions, muzzle exercises, and problem solving.  

A practical, field-based program designed to reduce excessive reactivity and stress responses of police K9s when operating in demanding settings. The course emphasizes environmental acclimation to crowds, traffic, noise, unfamiliar surfaces, building structures and unexpected stimuli. Through progressive exposure, positive reinforcement, and success-focused techniques, handlers and dogs build confidence, steadiness, and reliable performance in unpredictable environments.
